Mike Davis (Texas)

After spending many months reviewing different guides in New Zealand, I came across Outback Hunting NZ. Not only where the prices of his hunts better than average, his expertise in hunting and personalized service he offered, stood high above the others. I had booked a hunt for Tahr Stag Chamois. Dave worked hard to provide me with a quality experience. I shot 2 great bull tahr, and a awesome stag. The weather didn't cooperate with the chamois, but Dave tried hard to make it happen for me. The hospitality that he and his wife Hayley offered me made me feel like family, and Hayley's cooking was amazing!!
One of the Bull Tahr was unrecoverable, but Dave went back to the site weeks later when weather allowed, and recovered it, a 13'' bull. The tahr hunt can be physically demanding, so prepare for it.
I recommend booking a hunt with Dave from Outback Hunting NZ.

Finally back in England and reflecting on what was an amazing experience with Dave and his family. I stayed with Dave and Hayley for four nights, chasing Bull Tahr in March, this is something I'll never forget. From the beginning to the end, Dave and Hayley made sure the experience was perfect. Hayley's home cooked meals were amazing and helped fuel the body for the tough hunting to come. Dave put me into position on a number of bull Tahr, but with the stags roaring around us it was hard not to be tempted to go after one of these beasts as well. We stuck to the original plan and eventually the perfect 13.2 bull fell to the 300wsm.  Dave expertly caped him out for me and he was packed out along with our camping gear to the truck. When we arrived but at the house, Hayley had left a beautiful meal the was very welcome after the exertion of the last few days I don't think I've enjoyed a meal  so much, but was so tired I couldn't finish my beer! All and all I had a wounder experience and am saving for the next trip with them to the other side of the world, Guy.

I hunted with Dave for Red Stag and Tahr, my high priority is a fair chase free range hunt, I would rather come home empty handed than go on a canned hunt to get my trophies. To me the hunting experience is more important than the animal. I loved how Dave was a hard worker up early and not afraid to go the extra mile for you. He was willing to pass as many animals as you liked in order for you to be satisfied. Dave is willing to hunt long and hard if you so choose. He put me on an awesome Red Stag which I will always remember. The highlight of the trip was the hunt for the Tahr it was the most memorable adrenaline filled hunt to date. Hayley did an awesome job with meals and hospitality. You will not be disappointed with Outback Hunting NZ, and I'm sure you'll make some lifelong great memories.
Robert Vigoren (USA)
I hunted with Dave in March for an estate Silver Red Stag, I wanted to hunt it with my bow, which I did. The stag scored 361 SCI a great challenging hunt with the bow. Also I wanted a free range Fallow Buck. I harvested a beautiful big spotty Fallow Buck. Dave spotted the buck in and among the thorny bush over a mile away, it was incredible. The stalk of the buck was perfect too the buck didn't have a glue we were even close to him. Thanks Dave for the forever memories I will have on this hunt. Cheers Robert.
Franco Antonio (Italy)
I had the pleasure of hunting with Dave Campbell in July. With his experience, he recommended five days in case weather got tricky (which it did), and with his expertise, he managed to get up the mountains and back down with three Bull Tahr in two of those days. Dave was meticulous about safety and his eye on the weather every single day. The first morning, I arrived at 5 am after a 37 hour journey from France. I was meet by Phil at the airport (Daves driver), great guy who took me to their house. Their I met Dave for the first time and was surprised to see him decked out in his hunting gear. Forget jet lag and a shower, we were out and up straight away after a nod and hand shake. He wanted to take advantage of the great day, and luckily he did as well, landing an impressive 12.75 inch Bull Tahr that day, then spent the next three days anxiously waiting for the rain to stop. I only got one more day of hunting in on the last day but Dave made it worth while with one of the most magnificent Tahr I have ever seen and another Bull we found in the middle of nowhere in two foot of snow. Absolutely an incredible experience. Felt like I didn't want to leave and can't wait to get back there!! Thanks Dave for a trip of a life time, and to Hayley for the wonderful meals. Let it be known that there are only compliments to the chef from one of those picky Italians! Buonissimo!
Glenn Skromanis (Tasmania)
I have been keen to hunt Tahr and Chamois, but doing it the old way, walk in walk out no helicopter. Narrowing my choices down to three guides, I started asking blokes that hunted in Tassie what they knew. I was told Dave Campbell is the man to go to he works hard you will have fun and he wont let you down.
The week I spent with Dave and Hayley was the most enjoyable time. Dave and Hayley made me feel right at home in their home, and boy is Hayley a hell of a cook.
To do a wildness hunt I knew I had to be fit, but all the training under the sun won't prepare you for those mountains in Dave's backyard. But I loved the total experience. Walking across a shingle slide for the first time getting spiked by spanard grass, sidling around ledges and drop offs, grasping vegetation to pull yourself up step slopes and then running down shingles slides, how much fun is that! Rushing down the hill before it gets dark, a heavy pack on your back burning into your shoulders, with legs shaking from fatigue, smelling like a rutting Bull that you stalked and shot expertly guided by Dave. These are life time experiences I will never forget. Dave put me on to a beautiful eight year old Bull Tahr and two great Buck Chamois that I shot, what more could I ask for. Thank you so much.
Steve Teacher (Darwin)
After three unsuccessful trips to New Zealand to hunt Tahr and Chamois it was time to hire a guide, that had a reputation for value, flexibility and producing quality trophies. But above all, someone who could provide a enjoyable and memorable hunt. Searches on the net and discussions among fellow hunters all pointed to Dave Campbell of Outback Hunting NZ. I got in contact with him, and a hunt with Dave on DOC land was arranged. Dave choose the locations carefully with my needs and limitations in mind. My fitness is relatively good, but I'm not fond of the steep country because of my fear of heights. Anyway, Dave knew of some spots that would give us access to Tahr and Chamois, which was still in steep mountainous country, but could be accessed via tracks and ridges that I was more comfortable with. Dave certainly delivered and with his expert guidance I was able to take two impressive trophies . A Tahr measuring 13.7 and a whopping Chamois measuring 10.75 inches WOW! Dave's generosity went far beyond my hunt he professionally prepared my Trophies for hassle free travel back to Australia. I am now in the process of booking a Sika hunt with Dave .
Brett Mills & Graeme Caldwell (Victoria)
I am 56 and my hunting partner for this trip was Graeme who was 60. We found Dave and Hayley Campbell very hospitable and Dave very knowledgeable of all of the species he guides for. He exhibited a professional, patient and skilled approach especially while adapting a hunt to suit our fitness and age. He's firearms are top notch and his reputation for finding Tahr over 12 inches is legendary. We shot two bulls both over 13 inches. Trophy preparation in the field and home was great, but most of all he possessed "great humor" which is essential to any hunting experience. Whether it is a few days camping out or just a single day hunt I would definitely recommend others to try a hunt with Dave, especially those who have Tahr on their bucket list. (Train hard and remember to carry weight).

Peter Fynbo (Denmark)

I hunted Tahr and Chamois with Dave and Hayley's outfit Outback Hunting New Zealand in June.
I chose Outback Hunting because of the quality of the animals shot by past clients and because most of the hunts were done on a foot basis with the option of a helicopter. Prior to arriving in New Zealand I let Dave know that I wanted a challenging hunt but soon after the first hunt started I realized that this was not necessary to mention. I very quickly realized that being fit for European terrain isn't the same as being fit for the New Zealand alps. We hunted in the most beautiful surroundings and saw plenty of animals. With Daves experience and local knowledge we got two magnificent trophies after just three days of hunting. A 13 year  old Chamois and a beautiful big 8 year old bull Tahr. During my stay Hayley and Dave provided amazing hospitality and made me feel really welcome in their home i enjoyed my stay very much and I highly recommend Outback Hunting for other people looking for a challenging free range hunt.

Damian  Chepenuk (New York)

My name is Damian and I have spent the last 20 years of my life living out my dreams I had as a child of hunting around the world! When I started this quest I had a few goals in mind. First, hunt the animals in there natural environment / fair chase. Second, be willing to work for your animal, come to the hunt mentally and physically. Third, when travelling into a foreign country, I try to get as immersed in the local culture as I can. I want to hunt the animals like the locals do and would rather NOT be in a "resort" type location. I'm there to hunt, bottom line. Last hunting around the world can be done afford-ably. Hunting abroad shouldn't be reserved for the wealthy only. When I looked into hunting in New Zealand I started with an internet search and called five different outfitters. They were all the same except for one, outback hunting with Dave and Hayley Campbell. The others were resort type accommodations heavily reliant on helicopters and unreasonably expensive. With Daves operation he advertised harvesting the most Tahr on foot than any other outfitter in NZ. He also brings the hunter into his home where you can't help but get the real feel of NZ life. He was also very affordable. When I first spoke to Dave on the phone I knew straight away he was the real deal. When I arrived and Dave's home and meet him and his wife I knew I'd made the right choice. Dave and his wife eat and breath hunting. He has been climbing the mountains and hunting with guys like us for forty years. He will work with all levels of capabilities. The hunts can be easy or as hard as you'd like, the animal quality and quantity is just what you'd expect when you come to NZ. I left with 5 Trophy's Red Stag, Tahr, Chamois, Fallow Buck and Ram and an adventure I"LL NEVER FORGET!! When you combine the hunting, the hospitality and the overall cost...its an adventure you'd be foolish to walk away from. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dave and Hayley from Outback Hunting New Zealand.

Geoff Baker ( Brisbane)

Geoff Baker ( Brisbane)Dave and Hayley Campbell of Outback Hunting New Zealand came highly recommended from some of
my friends who have hunting with them. So one of my buddies and I decided to book a wildness Bull Tahr hunt. What an epic adventure it was, we experienced high alpine mountains stunning scenery crystal clear mountain streams, plenty of animals to stalk with some high quality trophy's available. Dave's ability to plan a stalk, chose the best bull to take and estimate horn size was fantastic and comforting for a novas like myself. I took 3 Bull Tahr 12, 12.5, 13.2 . Hayley's cooking was amazing and overall we could not have asked for anything better. I enjoyed the experience so much I will be heading back for a Chamois and Red Deer hunt next year. Thanks Dave and Hayley for an awesome experience.

Phillip Howe ( Auckland)

My friend Paul and I booked a weekend summer hunt with Dave in December and myself not having hunted tahr before didn't know quite what to expect and to cut a long story short we had a great weekend so much that we have booked two further trips with Dave in 2016. The trip was well organised and the weather cooperated being fine and warm. The hunting area that we were taking to was awesome country, not to hard but did require a reasonable level of fitness. Glassing the slopes for animals from the valley floor was readily done and meant we were able to target the better heads with the result being three nice 12 inch + heads in one day from about 2 dozen bulls sighted. We both found Dave to be an excellent guide and himself and Hayley very hospitable. We are both looking forward to our return trips next year.

Dion Barnhoorn (Tasmania)

Dave and Hayley were recommended to me by Murray Thomas a local outfitter, when I enquired about a wildness Tahr hunt. In September , I booked a Tahr hunt with Dave for February 2016. Dave's considerable knowledge and experience of the terrain weather and species provided to be invaluable as he guided me a great stalk and ultimately successful 80 meter shot. Dave was happy to share his knowledge and answered my vast range of questions. Hayley provided amazing hospitality in a great homely atmosphere, and they both along with there chocolate lab Gus made me feel really welcome. A fantastic trip and hunt. As soon as I got back I booked a Chamois hunt for next year. I thoroughly recommend Dave and Hayley if you are considering hunting New Zealand. Thanks again.

Chris Biggs ( North Queensland)

After researching and thinking about Tahr for a long time I decided to book with Dave and Hayley Campbell's Outback Hunting. The hunt taking place in January. Dave's experience and enthusiasm and local knowledge is second to none. After seeing many first class trophy Tahr I was able to take a nice 12.5 inch animal. I would make sure I was fitter next time as it was more physical than I had expected. I guarantee you won't be disappointed in Outback Hunting NZ I have booked again for Red Stag in 2017.

Phil Blanden ( Victoria)

In January my 15 year old Nephew Cameron and I hunted with Dave Campbell. We flew by chopper into a spectacular high alpine basin and set up a very comfortable camp. That afternoon Cameron shot at over 200 meters with Dave's suppressed 270 a summer Buck Chamois with good horns and thick bases. It was a very challenging hunt in steep country with Dave and Cam covering a lot of country and arriving back at camp right on dark. Dave went above and beyond that day to get Cam his first Chamois. Early next morning Dave and I climbed the crags behind camp getting within 70 meters of a buck who was quicker than me. We flew out to beat the changing weather and changed locations. Over the next couple of days we saw lots of the south island and plenty of Chamois. A great hunt and a fantastic introduction for Cameron to the New Zealand high country. We have booked a Tahr hunt spring 2016.

Merv Clemens ( Victoria)

What a hunt!
Enjoyable, professional & successful!
Up by chopper into a fantastic kaleidoscope of alpine scenery where we hunted off the ridges glassing many Tahr & Red Deer. Descending to check & qualify glassed animals I soon realised that Dave's experience & ability to locate and accurately size trophy quality at long range is outstanding. My hunt resulted in me shooting a 12.5" & 13.25" Bull Tahr just before dusk so we had a long climb under headlights back to our camp in the tussocks and a cook up and welcome rest. Even on the walk out to our pick up the next morning we observed a lot of Tahr. Dave and Hayley run a slick professional operation with experience, immense knowledge, quality equipment, a sense of humour & good food.
Cheers Merv.

Stephen Warren ( Brisbane)

If you are after a Chamois and Tahr in particular there is no better guide out there than Dave Campbell. His knowledge of the area and animals is unbelievable. I had the most enjoyable hunt all though hard going I always felt I was in the best of hands. I have no hesitation in recommending Dave for you hunting expedition. The quality and quantity of animals was unbelievable.  The accommodation and food was also A+. Dave and Hayley make a fantastic team making you feel like part of the family. I was lucky enough to shoot Tahr, Chamois, Red Deer, Wapiti and Ram, so impressed I brought my youngest son back six weeks later and he shot two Red Stags and I shot a Bison and a Highland Bull. Thank you will see you again.

Bill Wilson (Victoria)

I am sixty eight years old and have tried to get a Tahr and Chamois for many years without success.
I decided to hire a guide. After much research and asking around I chose Dave Campbell of Outback Hunting he was the best choice.
May came and I was ready. Daves experience and knowledge of the animals targeted had to be seen to be believed. I shot a big 13 inch Bull Tahr and a nice Chamois all in three days an unbelievable experience! The accommodation and Hayley's cooking was a good as you can get. A first class outfit that
I would recommend to anyone without hesitation.  Thanks again.

George Nikolaidis /Greece

I travelled so far away with great expectations for a wildness Tahr hunt.
Dave managed to guide me on those tough routes, really discovering those elusive animals in the steep gullies and finally harvesting two large bulls in prime coat. The following days I shot a great Red Stag and a beautiful Wapiti Elk filled in my scoring card. A fantastic hunt with a very experienced and hard working guide, that will find always a solution for your particular needs. When returning back home the delicious meals from Hayley fulfilled your needs and the accommodation was fantastic. I definitely recommend Dave and Hayley from Outback Hunting New Zealand whenever experience and professionalism is a priority; because everything counts!

Tim Ward ( Victoria)

Outstanding outfitter great set up amazing people with years of experience in the hills who really know what they are doing. We hunted Tahr and Chamois and even though we managed to take both animals in good time, I hope to get a chance to come back and give it another go. Its not always about the kill its what you take away from the hunt and the life long friends that you make. Thanks for the opportunity you gave me. This was a very memorable hunt for me that I will never forget. Thank you both so much.

Nigel Jakubiszyn ( Tasmania)

If your thinking about a New Zealand hunt look no further than Dave and Hayley Campbell. I've hunted New Zealand on many occasions and Dave is the most hard working guide I know and does everything he can to get the trophy animal the hunter desires. Dave's knowledge of the animals and the country he hunts is outstanding and this is what makes Outback Hunting New Zealand the only outfit to hunt in the South Island .Hayley has always got a great meal on the table at the end of a hard days hunting which is always fantastic! I have no hesitation in recommending Dave and Hayley Campbell's Outback Hunting New Zealand as it is first class and I will certainly be back for more in the near future.

Luke Smith (Tasmania)

I set Dave the challenge of wanting to hunt Red Stag and Tahr free range while in New Zealand. His knowledge of both country and animals were second to none. He was more than willing to put in the hard yards and we secured the two trophy's desired. A top quality outfitter that I will certainly use again in the near future.

Glenn Loose ( Brisbane)

"Dave is a high quality guide, who knows his country well, knows where to find the animals. My brother and I hunted with Dave in Oct 2012. We saw plenty of tahr and I shot a really big 14.5 bull and my brother a 13. Dave's rifle's are good quality with good quality optics, so it makes it easy not needing to take your own. Hayley cooked up great meals that loaded the plate. Well recommended outfitter."

Michael Spotswood ( Victoria)

After researching and thinking about an Elk hunt for a long time I decided to book with Outback Hunting NZ because of there experience and quality of animals. I booked in April 2015. Hunting with Dave did not disappoint he expertly guided me onto an Elk of a lifetime, an experience I will never forget. The accommodation and Hayley's cooking were first rate. I have no hesitation in recommending Dave as a highly skilled and professional guide. He will get you onto the trophy of your dreams, I will definitely be back for another hunt soon.

Graeme Godsell ( Brisbane)

I chose Dave to guide me on a Tahr & Chamois hunt because of his high success rate, the quality of the bulls his past clients have shot, and because he prefers to climb the hills rather than chopper in. All of the references I followed up on gave a glowing report about Daves enthusiasm, experience, and local knowledge.
Unfortunately for the five days I was in New Zealand mid May 2013 the weather was extremely bad. The rivers were swollen and the fog and rain meant visibility was non existent, but that's hunting. We got one fine day and Dave dragged me up the hills and I shot a nice Chamois, despite the bad weather Dave maintained his good sense of humour and professionalism.
July 2014 I'm back again after a Tahr. We saw several nice bulls and I managed to shot two prime bulls. I also shot a very nice Ram. Thanks again see you both in 2015.

Kelly Browning ( Tasmania)

I've hunted twice with Dave and Hayley Campbell's outfit, Outback Hunting New Zealand. The two of them made these hunting trips a wonderful experience and truly a hunt of a lifetime. Dave's knowledge of the animals and the country he hunts is first rate. The animals are just awesome! The company and conversation was incredible! Accommodation and meals were outstanding! Thank you for all that you have done to ensure perfection and treating us as friends not clients. I have enjoyed the challenge of hunting New Zealand because of its rugged and spectacular mountains and the wide variety of animals that Outback Hunting New Zealand can offer, during my hunts I managed to take Red Stag, Tahr,Fallow Bucks, Arapawa Ram, one of my Tahr being a monster 15 inch! If you are looking at hunting in New Zealand, I guarantee you won't be disappointed in Outback Hunting NZ " I have booked again for 2014."

Timmy Nash ( Victoria)

"Hunted with Dave twice now, with a third trip planned this year. He is extremely knowledgable of all game species, and somehow knows when where and how to find big trophy for his hunters. I will never hunt New Zealand with anyone else."

Michael Stolberg (Victoria)

I would like to thank you for a great hunt, your hospitality, Hayley's excellent meals and accommodation's. I would recommend this hunt to any one thinking about hunting Chamois and Tahr. I saw plenty of animals. Dave has excellent area's to hunt and tonnes of experience. I would make sure I was fitter next time as it was more physical than I had thought. I would not bring my own rifle next time as Dave has excellent accurate rifles that are a pleasure to shot. Thank you again Dave and Hayley look forward to hunting with you again soon.

Peter Duncan (Victoria)

"I hunted with Dave early in 2012 for tahr and had a greart hunt scoring 2 big bulls in prime coat (nothing like a big bull standing high with his mane blowing in the wind). The climbs were hard and high but Dave has a way of dragging you up to the good spots. We saw plenty of animals and his wife Hayley is a fantastic cook. I had such a good time, I was back within a few months to hunt chamois in winter coat. Nothing had changed, Dave was keen, the hunt was challenging and the food great. Shot a nice nanny and a great buck. I can't recommend him highly enough."

Matt Warner ( Victoria)

"I have hunted with various outfitters and guides and guides throughout the world but have yet to find anyone who works as has as Dave Campbell in helping you secure your trophies. My wife and I have hunted on three occasions with Dave and Hayley taking great trophies on each hunt including Tahr, Chamois and Arapawa Ram with the highlight being my wife taking a beautiful 14.5" Bull Tahr. It's without hesitation that i recommend hunting with Dave and Hayley Campbell from Outback Hunting New Zealand"

Murray Vague ( Victoria)

"After 50 years of hunting and 11 trips to New Zealand, North, South and Stewart Island, for my last trip I chose Dave Campbell. Dave's knowledge of the alps and the variety of game species is to be seen. His utmost aim for his clients is to secure them a shot at a trophy animal under safe and sometimes strenuous conditions, however, that's real hunting. He is an artist at his craft only to be exceeded by his hospitality. I can recommend Dave as a guide for anyone be it a first timer or an experienced hunter with reasonable fitness"

Mark Richards ( Tasmania)

"I have done many guided hunts both within Australia and overseas and in particular New Zealand's South Island. All of these hunts have been with Outback Hunting New Zealand. I consider Dave to be in the elite category of guided hunting I have experienced anywhere this is why I keep returning. Dave and Hayley's friendly demeanour and easy going nature have set them apart. I have hunted 5 different species on three separate occasions successfully. All being high class trophies. Dave knows the country and animals targeted intensely and does the hard yards for you. If you are interested in a high class tahr or chamois hunt in particular I would look no further"

Duane Gardiner ( Victoria)

"I hunted with Dave in May 2012, for tahr. The hunt was physical but rewarding. On the first day we saw six trophy bulls and shot three, Two really old 12" bulls with ripper manes and one monster 13.5" bull. We then hunted for another bull in the 13+ class. We passed up probably 10 or so bulls which were beautiful trophies in the following days. On day 4 we lucked upon a ripper 13.5" bull which we snuck into 80m and nailed. Dave's ability to consistently deliver the goods to his clients is second to none, at a great price! I also borrowed Dave's Sako .300WSM which was a beauty and saved the headache of importing firearms. All export paperwork of trophies was taken care of by Dave, we took the skins and horns home with us. Great hunt with a great bloke!"

Casey Poletti ( Victoria)

When looking at any hunting outfitter it is important that they have many hunting area's, the experience and knowledge of the species your after, and are prepared to " put in the yards" to make your hunt a successful and memorable experience. I and many hunting colleagues have hunted with Dave Campbell of outback hunting NZ, and can personally guarantee he more than fits this criteria. Dave and his team will do anything it takes to get you your trophy. He and his wife Hayley provided great home cooked meals and were very hospitable on every occasion I've hunted with him. I cannot recommend there services enough and would welcome anyone to contact me as a reference, I'll be back for sure. Thanks for not only an awesome hunt but a fantastic time with great company.

Jim Lay ( Victoria)

"Taking a trophy class bull tahr to add to my south pacific trophy collection has been one of my long term hunting goals. With little time available to dedicate numerous trips in this pursuit, it was an easy choice to seek out the services of an outfitter and utilise his local expertise for a fully guided hunt. A little research found Dave Campbell from Outback Hunting NZ advertising in Wild deer and hunting adventures. He had on offer, various hunts on Bull tahr, Chamois, Red stag and fallow bucks at very competitive prices and had a reputation for taking exceptional trophy’s for his clients.

Dave picks up and drops off his clients at Christchurch airport and an hours drive later you arrive at his home base and are given a guided tour, allocated a very spacious private bedroom and offered a beer! The meals are first class and you feel at home in no time as Dave recalls hunting stories, runs you through the weeks agenda and fires you up with a slide show of previous clients trophy’s on his lap top.

Dave has access to a number of exclusive hunting areas that contain a variety of species and an abundance of first class trophy animals. Our first days hunting alone was well beyond my highest expectations as we looked over an amazing number of Bulls and managed to take three exceptional trophy’s. Trophy’s and skins are taken care of onsite and tanning or taxidermy can be arranged on request. Dave goes out of his way to ensure that your hunting experience is second to none, his professionalism and ability to secure that trophy of a lifetime is first class and I highly recommend his operation."

Antony Madden( Victoria)

"I have wanted to hunt Tahr and Chamois for some years now, a few of my mates have hunted with Outback Hunting New Zealand and had a fantastic time so my mate and I booked a hunt with them in June. Due to heavy work commitments we only had four days to hunt and the weather forecast was not good! We only had one day we were able to hunt, in very trying conditions. We shot a great bull Tahr each with prime winter skins. My Tahr went down a waterfall; Dave did a great job retrieving it, in icy conditions. This was the most physical but rewarding hunt I have ever done I can’t wait to get back over there and hunt Chamois with them. Dave and Hayley run a top class operation and I have no hesitations in recommending them to anyone."

Kevin Pilgrim ( Victoria)

"I hunted with Dave and his crew in June 2013 for Tahr and Chamois. The hunt for Tahr on the first day was way beyond what I had expected; we saw six good bulls from the river bed. We climbed up to the first bull it was a 12 inch plus with a fantastic cape. Dave gave me the option of passing it up and carry on looking for something bigger, but I was more than happy with this bull we sneaked into 150 yards and shot it, my first Tahr and what an awesome experience no wonder these animals are king of the mountain. Next day I tried for a Chamois we saw nine but the weather closed in and we had to turn back, maybe next time. Outback Hunting is as good as it gets, accommodation, food and company is first class. See you next year."

Mick Maunder ( Victoria)

"My Hunting trip with Dave was an unbelievable experience. The one thing I found with Dave is that he always found the animals. He put in that extra effort and went out of his way to make sure you get that chance to secure your trophy. I was lucky enough to take 3 great animals with Dave and if it wasn't for his persistence and constant glassing that would not have happened. With beautiful home cooked meals, bed and great company a hunting trip with Dave and Hayley will exceed all your expectations."

Colin Baker ( Victoria)

After spending some two years researching Tahr & Chamois hunts i headed off to the Bendigo hunting expo. Over a dozen exhibitors showed me there hunts and prices, but one person stood out, Outback Hunting NZ. It was very difficult to spend any length of time talking to Dave due to the amount of people at there stand. I was convinced they were the one’s for me, paid my deposit the hunt was mine.May came and i was welcomed by Dave, short drive later i was welcomed by Hayley. The Accommodation is fantastic and food outstanding. Dave spoke about the upcoming hunt, but nothing he said will prepare you for what you will soon endure. Tahr & Chamois hunting is challenging to say the least but you have the best guide in the business beside you every steep of the way. Going back to a hot shower, hot meal, cold beer, and very comfortable bed, is a real bonus.Dave knows these animals inside out, if he says it is worth chasing you can be assured it is. Thanks to Dave & Hayley i shot two big bull Tahr, 13.6 in and 13.4 in and a 9.2 in Chamois, and a Ram. Dave field prepares all the animals on the spot. Once back home they are all boiled and prepared ready to take back overseas. Dave will organise all the paper work. Dave has access to some of the best hunting properties in NZ, which includes Red Stag, Fallow Deer, Whitetail Deer, Tahr, Chamois Rams. all Free Range. For one of the best hunts in NZ and most affordable, give Dave a Call and get over there..
