Tahr

Arguably one of the toughest alpine hunts in the world. The best time to hunt these animals is in the rut May – July when they have their majestic full winter skins. These animals make a beautiful full body mount which is very popular with our hunters. Can also be hunted in the spring November – December when the animals are down exceptionally low this makes for a less physical hunt, but have a beautiful blonde skin. This is a good opportunity to securer an exceptional trophy head as they are in large groups after the winter. There are only two animals in the world that have manes the other is a Lion.

Chamois

Another one of New Zealand’s tough alpine hunts. Living much lower than the Tahr living in the scrub fringe. Part of the antelope family the best time to hunt these animals is May – July during the rut. Another very popular animal to full body mount. They are black in the winter and a golden colour in summer. January – March is a great time to securer a large buck as they are on their own out on the tops. The camp out option works well here in the summer.
